Muslim educationist appointed to Police Oversight Authority

bonFatuma Ali Saman has been sworn in to serve on the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA). During the swearing ceremony the Chief Justice Willy Mutunga told members not to expect a smooth transition when they begin their mandate. Fatuma is the only Muslim in the board which she qualified into after scoring 83 percentage points during the applications hearing. She will serve in the board for a period of six years. An educationist by profession, Fatuma Saman is the principal of Nairobi Muslim Academy in South C, a school ranked among the top 100 nationally in both KCSE and KCPE examinations. She holds a Bacherlors in Education (B.Ed) and Masters  degree (M.Ed) in Education Policy and Administration from the University of Nairobi. She was born in Mandera County in north eastern Kenya.
